Connect

WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram and Teams

Message the workspace from the chat apps your team already has open, and get questions from running tasks answered there.

The messaging doors let people reach the workspace without opening the app, and let running tasks reach people where they are. All of them are configured under Workspace settings → Messaging & API, and everything on that page is scoped to the workspace.

What a door does

  • Inbound. Mention the bot or send it a direct message, with a file if you have one. The same assistant as the app's chat answers: it knows the channels and their agents, hands a request to the channel whose purpose matches (the file travels with it), and answers smaller questions itself. Ask it what it can do and it describes the teams. The task shows the door as its source.
  • Outbound. While the task runs, each step posts one short line ("⏳ Pricing: Look up prices (3/8)"), so a task that takes a few minutes does not look stuck. When the task finishes, its result and its files (the order document, say) come back into the same thread. When a run parks on a question, the question is posted to the door the automation chose under When a run needs a human, as a card with buttons or as a message. Answering there continues the run.

Slack

Press Connect Slack (later Reconnect) and authorise the workspace app. From then on, mention the bot in a channel or DM it to run automations. Paused runs post approval and input cards to the channel each automation chooses: on the automation's Settings tab, under When a run needs a human, pick Slack (available once Slack is connected), paste the Slack channel ID (right-click the channel in Slack, Copy link; the ID starts with C), optionally a Person to mention by member ID, and a Contact label such as "Finance department".

WhatsApp

The workspace has a WhatsApp Business number. Under WhatsApp, press Link number and add the phone numbers of the people who may message it; their messages run automations and the answers come back on the same thread. On an automation, pick WhatsApp under When a run needs a human and enter the number to notify.

Telegram

Press Open in Telegram or Copy link to share it. Starting the bot links your Telegram account to the workspace; messages to the bot then run automations and get answers. Questions from parked runs go to Slack or WhatsApp only, not to Telegram.

Microsoft Teams

There is no Teams door for messaging. Teams is supported as a meeting platform: the notetaker joins a Teams call from a meeting link. See Meetings.

Not configured

Each door depends on credentials your cmdk deployment holds. When a door is not configured, the settings page says so and names what is missing. Ask your administrator to enable it.
