Getting started

Quickstart

From your invitation to a first automation in about fifteen minutes.

This walk-through takes you from logging in to a working team of agents. Each step links to the page that goes deeper.

1. Log in and land in a chat

Open your invitation, set a password, and you arrive in a new chat. On the left is the sidebar: your workspace switcher at the top, a Search field, the black New chat button, and live lists of your recent chats and tasks, channels, agents, direct messages and meetings.

2. Ask something

Type a question in the composer and press Enter. The answer streams in, and the right-hand panel shows what the AI is doing. Drop a file anywhere on the page to attach it (up to 25 MB each). Type @ to bring in an agent, an automation, a skill or a tool.

The model is chosen for you in Auto mode. To pick one yourself, open the model selector in the composer. More in Models and routing.

3. Give the workspace some context

Open Workspace context from the chat's side panel. Two files live there:

  • Instructions: how the AI should behave in this workspace.
  • Glossary: your terms, products and abbreviations.

Under Knowledge in the same panel you can Upload file, Add web page or Add snippet. Whatever you add becomes searchable for every chat, agent and automation. See Knowledge.

4. Create an agent

Go to Agents and choose New agent. Give it a name, a one-line Role such as "Looks up supplier prices and applies the price matrix", and Instructions: what it does, what it must check, what it must never do. Pick a model or leave it on auto.

Press Talk on the agent's row to open a one-to-one channel and try it out. See Agents.

5. Put agents in a channel

Go to Channels and choose New channel. Name it, write a one-line Purpose ("Turn inquiries into priced quote documents") and a Playbook: how the team should collaborate, in plain language. Add your agents to the Team and choose a Lead. The lead receives requests, hands out work and replies.

Post a request in the channel. Attach a file if you have one; attachments always start a task. Watch the timeline: the lead takes it, each step reports what it is doing, and the deliverable arrives as a post with files. If the team needs something from you, the channel shows Needs input and you answer right there. See Channels.

6. Connect an app

Go to Tools and choose Add connection. Pick the app, for example Gmail or Slack, and authorise it. The connection belongs to the workspace, so every agent and automation can use it, and you can restrict which actions each may take. See Connected apps.

7. Turn a job into an automation

Press New automation on the Automations page (or choose it in ⌘K). It opens a chat pre-filled with "Create a new automation that". Finish the sentence in your own words. The agent asks what it needs, then compiles your brief into numbered steps you can read on the Steps tab. Press Run: a chat opens with the automation attached and the run streams there. Then check the result on the Overview tab, where each run is an item with its fields, files and outcome. See Building an automation.

8. Reach it from outside the app

Under Messaging & API in workspace settings you can connect Slack, WhatsApp or Telegram so people can message the workspace, and create an API key so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or a script can call any automation as a tool. See Connect.
